This is an incredibly pretty Victorian cluster ring, which has been unusually set with seven chrysoberyl stones. The lightweight shank is intricately designed and features further flower details on the shoulders.
Chrysoberyls are beautiful stones and have a transparent look that makes a handsome faceted gem. With indistinct cleavage and hardness of 8.5, it’s one of the toughest stones for jewellery purposes. In general, the bright yellow and yellow-green shades are the most desirable colours as in this ring. In the antique trade they are also commonly known as Chrysolite.
We have never come across a Chrysoberyl cluster ring quite like this before!
