Terms & Conditions
These Terms and Conditions form a legally binding agreement between you and The Antique Jewellery Company Ltd. (“The Antique Jewellery Company”, “AJC”, “we” or “us”), which operates the website at www.antiquejewellerycompany.com (the “Site”).
They set out your rights and responsibilities and ours in relation to: (a) your access to the Site; (b) your use of the Site; (c) any communications sent from the AJC; and (d) all information, products, services and materials made available through the Site.
By using this Site you accept these Terms as they apply at the time of your visit. If you do not accept them, please do not use the Site. We may update these Terms from time to time; the version in force at the time of any purchase will apply to that purchase. We recommend that you review these Terms periodically and print or save a copy for your records.
1a.Anyone who enters our Site is deemed a user (“User”). You are free to use the Site at any time, provided you comply with these Terms and Conditions.
1b.This website is intended for personal, non-commercial use. The content of this website — including text, photographs, illustrations, item descriptions, design and layout — is owned by or licensed to the AJC and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights. You may not reproduce, republish, distribute, sell or otherwise exploit any of this content, or create derivative works based on it, without our prior written permission. This restriction applies to the website’s content and does not affect your rights in any physical item you purchase from us.
1c.You are responsible for the accuracy and validity of any information you send to us. You agree not to use, and not to allow the use of, any device, software or method that could interfere with the proper operation of our Site.
1d.We are the owner or licensee of all intellectual property rights in the Site and the material published on it. Those works are protected by copyright laws and treaties around the world. All such rights are reserved.
2a.The general editorial content of the Site (such as blog posts, glossary entries and historical features) does not constitute professional advice and should not be relied upon as such. The specific descriptions of items offered for sale form part of our contract with you and are covered by the AJC Guarantee and your statutory rights — please see clause 9a for further detail.
2b.We may update or change the content of the Site at any time. We make every effort to ensure the Site functions properly, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability and accept no liability for technical issues beyond our reasonable control (subject to clause 9e).
2c.Please be sure you wish to purchase an item before committing to buy. If you do not contact us with payment details by the agreed date, we will release the reservation and the item may be offered to other clients.

3a.We do not knowingly sell reproductions. Unless otherwise clearly stated in the item description, all items offered on the Site are original antique or vintage pieces in good condition. Where a stone has known treatments or enhancements, this will be disclosed in the item description.
3b.The AJC describes each item to the best of its ability. If you feel that an item you have purchased does not match the description provided, you have the right to reject it and return it at our expense. This right applies for 30 days from the date you receive the item, and is in addition to your statutory rights.
3c.All items offered on the Site are the property of The Antique Jewellery Company, with the following exception:
— items with ‘/PR’ at the end of their item number are the property of Olivia Gerrish.
The AJC has full editorial control over which items from Olivia Gerrish are listed and screens all such items to ensure they meet the standards we set for our own stock.
4a.We offer free standard worldwide delivery on all orders.
4b.UK orders are dispatched via DHL Express.
4c.International orders are dispatched via DHL Express Worldwide.
4d.Orders placed before 2pm on a working day will normally be dispatched the same day. Orders placed after 2pm, or on a non-working day, will be dispatched on the next working day. Delivery times thereafter depend on the carrier and destination.
4e.We do not dispatch items at weekends or on UK public holidays.
4f.All items are fully insured in transit and are sent at the risk of the AJC until they are delivered to you.
4g.Items will be dispatched once payment has cleared.
4h.For international orders, the customer is responsible for any additional duties, taxes or tariffs imposed by the destination country. We have no authority over local customs departments. Your country’s customs office or website will usually publish the relevant rates — if you would like us to look into it for you, please get in touch.
4i.In most countries, duty does not apply to antiques over 100 years old. We will mark your purchases as ‘antiques, over 100 years old’ where applicable, to help avoid unnecessary charges.
Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including your right to cancel a distance purchase under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
In addition to your statutory rights, we offer the following returns policy:
5a.To return an item, please contact us to let us know of your intention to return, and send the item back to us within 30 days of receipt via a secure and insured service.
5b.For UK customers, return postage is paid for by the AJC. Please return the item in its original packaging (including the padded envelope) and enclose it in the pre-paid, pre-addressed plastic envelope that accompanies your order. Please hand the parcel in at your local Post Office® branch for dispatch and do NOT post it in a post box.
5c.For international customers, you are responsible for arranging the return and for any costs incurred. Please mark the package as ‘Return of sample merchandise, origin UK, item over 100 years old’. We strongly recommend using DHL, as we cannot be responsible for items that do not reach us.
5d.It is the responsibility of the international customer to label the returned package correctly as returned goods, in order to avoid unnecessary charges when re-entering the UK. Any charges incurred on returned items that are outside our control, such as import duties, will be deducted from the refund amount.
5e.Please note that international customs duties and sales taxes paid on the original shipment are not refundable for shipments outside the UK, as these are levied by the destination country and not by us.
5f.Items should be returned in the same condition in which they were received. We may reduce the refund to reflect any reduction in the value of the goods caused by handling beyond what is necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning. Please remember that antique jewellery must be treated with care: these pieces are not suitable for wear whilst gardening, washing or showering, playing sport, and so on. Foil-backed items must not come into contact with water, as this will cause discolouration. The items offered for sale on this site are antiques in good condition and, with careful treatment, should remain that way.
5g.Refunds will be issued in the same form as the original payment. If paid by credit or debit card, please allow a few working days for the refund to appear on your statement, depending on your issuing bank.
5h.If the returned item is a ring that we have resized free of charge, the cost of resizing (£114.00, comprising £95.00 + VAT) will be deducted from the refund amount. This will be made clear at the time the resizing is arranged.
6a.AJC Gift Cards are available in British Pounds (GBP). When ordering a Gift Card, please include the recipient’s name, delivery address and an optional personal message.
6b.Once payment has been taken, gift cards will be sent in accordance with our delivery terms.
6c.To redeem a gift card, enter your gift card code in the box at the bottom of your Shopping Bag. The amount will be deducted from the cost of the order.
6d.If your gift card exceeds the total order amount, the remaining balance will stay on the gift card and can be redeemed against a later order.
6e.If your order exceeds the value of the gift card, you will need to pay the remaining balance.
6f.Gift cards cannot be returned or exchanged for cash.
6g.Items paid for with a gift card will, if returned, be refunded as AJC store credit for use against a future order.
6h.Where an item has been paid for using both a gift card and a credit or debit card, the refund will be issued first to the original card up to the amount paid by card, with any remaining balance refunded as AJC store credit.
7a.Promotional discounts (such as Black Friday offers) do not apply where the customer uses Interest Free Finance as their payment method.
7b.A promotion cannot be combined with any other promotion, discount, offer, code, certificate or coupon (including SALE items and the purchase of gift cards).
7c.Where applicable, discounts will be applied automatically at checkout.
7d.Our promotional offers are non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and no cash alternative is offered.
7e.The AJC reserves the right, at its discretion, to revoke, suspend, cancel or amend any promotion and the associated terms at any time. Where reasonably possible, we will give notice of any such change.
7f.We will deal fairly and in good faith with any dispute about a promotion. Our final decision will be communicated to you in writing. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer or your right to use our Complaints Policy.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. We process your personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Full details of what data we collect, how we use it, your rights, and how to contact us about your data are set out in our Privacy Policy.
We will not share your details with third parties for marketing purposes without your consent. We may share information with trusted service providers (such as our delivery partners and payment processors) only to the extent necessary to fulfil your order.
Online payments are processed securely by our payment partners, including Stripe and PayPal. We do not store or have access to your full card details. For information on how these providers handle your data, please see the Stripe Privacy Policy and PayPal Privacy Policy.
9a.The general information published on this website (such as blog content, glossary entries, historical context and editorial features) is provided for information purposes only. While we make every effort to keep this content accurate and up to date, we make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the completeness, accuracy, reliability or suitability of such general information. Any reliance you place on it is at your own risk. This does not affect the specific descriptions provided for items offered for sale, which form part of our contract with you and are covered by the AJC Guarantee and your statutory rights.
9b.Subject to clause 9e below, we will not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss of profits, loss of business, loss of data or loss of goodwill arising out of or in connection with your use of this website.
9c.This website may contain links to other websites that are not operated by the AJC. We have no control over the nature, content or availability of those sites, and the inclusion of any link does not imply endorsement of the site or the views expressed within it.
9d.We make every effort to keep the website up and running smoothly. However, we accept no responsibility for, and will not be liable for, the website being temporarily unavailable due to technical issues beyond our control.
9e.Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits our liability for: (i) death or personal injury caused by our negligence; (ii) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; (iii) any breach of your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015; or (iv) any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law.
10a.These Terms and Conditions and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
10b.If you are a consumer, you may bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom in which you live. Otherwise, the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
10c.If you have a complaint that we have not been able to resolve, please refer to our Complaints Policy, which sets out the steps available to you, including any alternative dispute resolution options.
11a.We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in our business, our services or applicable law. The version of these Terms in force at the time of your purchase will apply to that purchase.
11b.The current version of these Terms is always available on this page, and the date of last update is shown below. We encourage you to review them periodically.
