More that was made circa 1820. It is three colour gold and has been decorated in repousse work with roses and leaves. The base of the seal is a bloodstoneA dark green to dark bluish-green variety of Chalcedony that is splattered with red or brown spots that resemble blood. The extent of the marking varies depending on the stone. Spots are favoured over larger stripes and markings. More that has an engraved intaglioAn engraved stone, the opposite of a cameo, with a recessed design cut below the surface of the stone. Intaglio designs are common for signet rings and fob seals. More of a pansy. This means “Think of me” after the French expression “Pensee a moi” which is a pun on the “pansy” flower. The roses are a further prompt from the giver. I love the secret messages that some pieces of antiqueFrom the Latin 'antiquus', meaning 'old and long in existence', it is generally used to refer to collectible artifacts of at least 100 years of age.
