Edwardian 18ct Gold Sovereign Case

475Y
549 Admirers

During the Victorian and Edwardian period, a sophisticated means of coin storage was invented, the sovereign case. These were small, portable boxes fashioned into a cylindrical shape. Inside the sovereigns could be placed in sprung fittings. Today these lovely items are worn as a decorative pendant.

This example is 18ct gold and was assayed in 1902.
