Rare Find
An unusual 18ct75% pure gold (or 750 parts pure gold and 250 parts other metals) More gold ring that was made circa 1820. It was imported at a later date in to France so it may have been made in Austria or Germany. The citrineCitrine (from the French for ‘lemon’) is a rare, yellow type of quartz, a semi-precious stone that ranges in colour from pale yellow to orange to golden brown. The best quality citrine is found in Brazil. More is pinched collet set in 18ct gold and is a wonderful orange yellow colour. It has been foiled so it has a lovely luminous quality. Around it are rose diamonds set in silverA metallic element which is malleable and ductile, and white in colour, making it ideal for use in jewellery. It is usually mixed with copper to improve its hardness.
More settings. The trifurcated shankThe circle of metal that attaches to the decorative part of a ring and encircles the finger. More gives the ring a light look.
I love this early 19th century period.
