Victorian Silver & Malachite Ivy Leaf Brooch

797L
895 Admirers
Written by Olly Gerrish

An unusual Victorian ivy leaf brooch. It has been inlaid with three pieces of polished malachite. It was most likely made in Torquay by the firm J Bradford circa 1880. There were a few jewellers in Torquay in the 19th century who worked with inlaying different agates and fossils, similar to the jewellery being made in Birmingham for the Scottish tourist trade. The ivy leaf design literally means “Cling to me”
