Victorian Oval Silver Locket with Swallow Motif

423T
167 Admirers
Written by Olly Gerrish

A good looking medium sized silver locket that was made circa 1880. The front has been engraved with a swallow on a branch. The swallow was considered daring, risk-seeking, and a symbol of change for good in the future. It also meant “Everlasting love” and “loyalty” as swallows mate for life. Around the central motif is an intricate hobnailed design. It opens to reveal a compartment for a photograph. A wonderful locket to give to someone that you love.
