Rare Find
This is such a sweet 15ct62.5% pure gold (or 625 parts pure gold and 375 parts other metals). Popular during the Victorian, Edwardian and Art Deco eras but was discontinued in the mid-1930s. More gold ring that was made in Birmingham in 1872. It has been set with three almandineA variety of red garnet that is transparent and commonly deep crimson with tinges of purple. Its colour can resemble that of ruby. It is cut in several forms; when cut en cabochon (usually as hollow cabochon to lighten the colour), it is called carbuncle. More garnets that are a lovely reddish mauve colour. In between are four small diamonds. The garnets at each end have been cut in heart shapes so this ring would clearly have been intended as an engagement ring. It sits low on the finger and curves around it beautifully. The shankThe circle of metal that attaches to the decorative part of a ring and encircles the finger. More has been engraved with ornate scrolls that continue on either side of the top of the ring.
