Victorian 15ct Gold Locket with Buckle Motif
An attractive 62.5% pure gold (or 625 parts pure gold and 375 parts other metals). Popular during the Victorian, Edwardian and Art Deco eras but was discontinued in the mid-1930s. gold locket that was made circa 1860-1880. It hinges open from the top to reveal an inner glazed locket with a compartment on both sides.The outside has been engraved with a scroll design and down the centre is a buckle. The buckle literally means that this locket would have been given as a token of love which bound two people together.
