A charming and quite rare 18ct gold mourning ring that has been set with a cushion cut rock crystal in the centre with a rose diamond on either side. It has been engraved and enamelled in white for a virgin or an unmarried person on the outside ” J Cotterel Obt (died) May 1752 Ae (aged 42)” On the reverse is a shell pattern within a scrollwork border that leads on to a decorative shank. This ring cannot be sized
