A good example of a late Georgian 15ct gold ring set with a ruby, emerald, garnet, amethyst, ruby and diamond – the first letter of each stone spelling “Regard”. Sentimental jewellery was all the rage in Georgian and Victorian jewellery. There were other pieces which spelt ‘”Love” and “Dearest” and sent special messages to the recipients from their admirers.
