Georgian 9ct Gold & Silver, Flat Cut Garnet & Paste Ring

189W
120 Admirers
Written by Olly Gerrish

This is a wonderful example of a Georgian garnet and paste ring made circa 1780. The garnet has a strong pinkish red hue and has been foiled to the reverse to give it extra vibrancy. The garnet is set in 9ct gold and the two pastes on either side are set in silver, all are held in pinch collet settings. The closed back is typical of the late 18th century with ridges on the reverse of the garnet in a shallow cup shape. The shank also features intricate cut-out and engraving on the shoulders.

A lovely and unusual Georgian ring to wear with care.
