An unusual 18ct75% pure gold (or 750 parts pure gold and 250 parts other metals) More gold ring that was made in France circa 1930. It is a stunning design with a lovely oval cut cornflower blue sapphireBlue is the best-known colour for this gemstone but it can be found in all colours of the spectrum. After diamond, sapphire is the hardest gemstone.
More in the centre. Around it is a ring of diamonds then a crescent of shaped baguetteFrench for “rod.” A type of rectangular step-cut comprising fourteen parallel, narrow facets running the length of the stone. Popular in mid-century eternity bands. More cut sapphires above and below, and finally an oval ring of diamonds. The shouldersThe point on a ring where the central section meets the shank or band, often carved, decorated or inlaid with small diamond accent stones. More are a chevron design set with square and baguette cut sapphires and further diamonds.
