A very unusual 18ct75% pure gold (or 750 parts pure gold and 250 parts other metals) More gold ring that was most likely made in Belgium and imported in to France circa 1900-1910. It is in the Art NouveauA movement within the arts, particularly jewellery, evolving out of a response to mass production and the industrial revolution (1890-1915). Jewellery of this period was heavily influenced by nature and femininity, with its sweeping lines and organic motifs. More style that was popular at the time with flowing lines that contain the witches heart. By the 18th century, the witch’s heart took on a new meaning. Lovers gifted each other with witch’s hearts as love tokens to symbolise that they’d been “bewitched” with love. This lovely style continued throughout the VictorianJewellery made in the the Victorian era (1839-1901). More and EdwardianJewellery made in the Edwardian era (1901-1914). More periods so this ring would be a perfect engagement ring
