Edwardian 9ct Gold Snake Ring set a Garnet & Rose Diamond Eyes

611T
640 Admirers
Written by Olly Gerrish

A smart and finely modelled 18ct gold snake ring that was made in Chester in 1917. It has been set with a garnet in his head with two small rose diamonds for his eyes. Snake rings were very popular in the Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian periods as they represented “Eternal love and wisdom”. Some examples can look quite unfriendly but this snake looks relaxed and happy!
