Edwardian 9ct Gold Padlock set with an Opal

523X
52 Admirers
Written by Olly Gerrish

Padlocks were originally used to attach a bracelet but now they are worn in their own right on chains around the neck.  This 9ct gold example is particularly pretty as it has been set with an opal. It was made in Birmingham circa 1910.

It hinges open so you can slide a chain through it.
