This is a classic engagement or dress ring that was made in Birmingham in 1903 by Deakin & Frances. Founded in 1786, the company was originally known as Deakin and Moore from 1848–1879. Charles Deakin retired in 1881 and John Francis joined the firm. The company then became known as Deakin & Francis, becoming a limited company in 1902. It is a lovely flowing open design and has been clawA precious metal prong used to hold a gemstone in place. More set with a rubyOne of the most valuable gemstones on earth. From the corundum family, the red variety being ruby and the blue, sapphire. With the exception of the diamond, corundum is the hardest of the gemstones on the Mohs scale scoring a 9. More with a trefoilA decorative ornament composed of three parts or leaves. More on either side set with three diamonds. Deakin & Frances are famous for high quality jewellery and this ring is no exception.
