Edwardian 18ct Gold Rose Diamond Cluster Drop Earrings

488U

Written by Olly Gerrish

A pretty pair of 18ct gold earrings that were made circa 1910. They have been claw set with rose diamonds in a cluster design with a further rose diamond above each cluster. Rose diamonds originated in the 16th century and have a domed top and a flat base. They were cut to optimise sparkle in candlelit settings and have a lovely subtle lustre that is quite different to modern brilliant cut diamonds. These earrings have secure posts and hinged fittings and can be worn on a daily basis.
