A smart 18ct75% pure gold (or 750 parts pure gold and 250 parts other metals) More gold ring that was made circa 1920-1940. It has been rub over set with a cabochonA polished, not faceted, dome shaped stone - either round or oval with a flat polished base, primarily used as a cut for phenomenal stones such as cat's eyes and stars.
More cut star sapphireA phenomenal gemstone which displays a shimmering six pointed star when viewed under a light source. The star effect or 'asterism' is caused by minute needle-like rutile inclusions within the gemstone. Natural, unenhanced star sapphires are very rare. More that has an approximate weight of 1.36 caratsThe unit of weight for a diamond or other gemstone and also for a pearl. Abbreviated 'ct', 1 carat is equal to 0.2 grams. In reference to gold, a unit of purity or fineness of gold and gold alloy, expressed as a number out of 24 parts by weight, e.g. '24 carat' signifies pure gold, '18 carat' 18/24th gold in the alloy, et cetera.
