A stunning Art Deco platinum ring that is typical of the 1920’s cutting edge style. It is a diamond shape and has been rub over and millgrain set with a sugar loaf sapphire that has an approximate weight of 6.30 carats. It is a wonderful teal blue colour. Around it are claw set small diamonds within millgrained settings. The shoulders are an unusual pierced design and have been claw set with further diamonds.that. lead on to a ribbed shank.
The Art Deco era favoured sugar loaf sapphires as they are structural shapes with a high domed top with four rounded sides sloping down to a flat bottom edge. The smooth glass like finish emphasises the deep saturated natural colour and transparency of the sapphire.
