Rare Find
This is an amazing large oval cluster ring that was made in the 1920s in Germany. It is platinum and has been set with three large diamonds going down the centre within a millgrained oval frame. This is when the edges of the metal have been worked with a knurling tool to produce tiny beads, hence the French name “Millgrain” meaning a thousand beads. There is a band of diamonds around the edge with diamonds in between the main stones. The shoulders have also been set with diamonds. The gallery has lovely scrollwork. It sits low on the finger so even although it is a large ring it is practical to wear. The ring is accompanied by a gemmological report stating that the diamonds are natural stones (colour approx G-I / clarity approx VS1-SI2) with an estimated total weight of 2.90 carats. It would be a wonderful engagement or dress ring.
