More that displays purple hues. The colour shift is from blue in daylight to bluish-purple in incandescent light. Blue sapphire is coloured by iron and titanium. The violet colours are because there are traces of vanadium. It is surrounded by sixteen well matched white diamonds. It was made circa 1930. It would make a marvellous engagement ring.
