An unusual Art Deco 18ct gold and platinum ring set with a hexagonal sapphire. It is a good mid to deep blue colour. It is surrounded by diamonds and has a diamond set in to each shoulder. The outer edges have been millgrained which is a nice detail in this type of ring. This effect is achieved by the use of a millgrain wheel which is a small, decorated wheel that leaves a trail of miniature balls when rolled along a sharp edge of metal. It was made circa 1920 and would be ideal as an engagement ring.
