Art Deco 18ct Gold & Platinum, Onyx & Diamond Rectangular Ring

387Z
80 Admirers

A lovely 18ct gold and platinum Art Deco ring that was made in the Art Deco era, circa 1925 and is most likely of German origin. Onyx was a quintessential gemstone in Art Deco jewellery, and was prized for its deep black colour that provided stark, modern contrast with diamonds and white metals like platinum. . It symbolised sophisticated simplicity and created dramatic, eye catching effects in rings such as this example. The onyx plaque is surrounded by small bright white diamonds and there is a further diamond in the centre, The sides and gallery have been engraved with scroll motifs that add extra interest to this pretty ring.
