Emerald and Diamond Engagement Rings

Emerald and diamond engagement rings have a romance to them that feels different from any other combination. The deep, garden-green of a good emerald against the ice-white sparkle of diamonds is something the Victorians and Edwardians understood very well, and Art Deco jewellers turned into an art form with their calibré-cut emerald borders and geometric settings.

Emeralds are softer than diamonds or sapphires, which is part of their character: the natural inclusions (the French call them jardins, gardens) are what make each stone individual.
