18ct Gold & Platinum Five Stone Diamond Ring

336P
520 Admirers
Written by Olly Gerrish

This ring was made in the 1920s. The shank is 18ct gold and the top is platinum. Platinum was used from the early 1900s as it is an ideal strong white metal for setting stones. Prior to 1900 silver had always been used which is a much softer metal. It has been set with five graded and well matched old mine cut diamonds. It sits low on the finger and curves around nicely. The shank has been chamfered as it comes up to meet the stones which gives this ring a lovely light look. It would make an ideal engagement ring.
