Retro 18ct Gold Diamond & Madeira Citrine Ring
A very striking 75% pure gold (or 750 parts pure gold and 250 parts other metals) gold ring that was made in the 1940s. It has been set with quite a large Madeira Citrine (from the French for ‘lemon’) is a rare, yellow type of quartz, a semi-precious stone that ranges in colour from pale yellow to orange to golden brown. The best quality citrine is found in Brazil.. Belonging to the Quartz is a silicon oxide with the various colours being derived from metallic oxides. Varieties include amethyst, citrine and smoky. family, Madeira citrine is one of the most sought-after varieties of citrine. This gemstone is named after the fortified wine made in the Madeira Islands, just off the coast of Portugal. On either are two small diamonds that highlight the citrine.
