An unusual 18ct gold Mourning ring which has been engraved with the date 1837 on the inside of the shank. The hardstone is a carved flower which is a pansy, a play on words ‘pense à moi’ (think of me). The Georgian and Victorian jewellery was full of hidden meanings either with the use of stones or imagery.
