Georgian 15ct Gold Rebus Ring of a Cherub & Willow Tree

317U
254 Admirers

An unusual Georgian ring made circa 1820, set with a thin sliver of chalcedony within a Roman setting. It has been engraved with a cherub with a quiver of arrows around his waist and a willow tree. “Riens san peine” which literally means “Nothing without effort or pain”.

So it is a rebus on love and would have been worn by a husband after having achieved his goal!
