Written by Olly Gerrish

This is a stunning 18ct gold oval cluster ring that was made circa 1950- 1960 and is most likely of Swedish origin. It has been claw set with an oval cut fancy coloured diamond that is a champagne or cognac colour and has an approximate weight of  just under one and a half  carats. Around it are twelve claw and millgrain set brilliant cut diamonds.
The Argyle Mine in Western Australia produces the majority of the world’s brown diamonds. so this stone is likely from there.

Today brown diamonds, namely cognac and champagne diamonds are popular stones for engagement rings.
