It was made circa 1820 and is typical of the late GeorgianJewellery made in the Georgian era (1714-1830). More period in style with repousse work around the edge then an engine turned pattern with a garter and a plain centre. The use of the garter as an emblem may have derived from straps used to fasten armour several hundred years ago and then it became part of a heraldic coat of Arms. The reverse is the same but without the garter. Inside is a later tinted portrait of a young boy.
