An unusual signet ring which is 18ct gold with a platinum top. It has an intaglio of a stag with the motto “Dum vigilo tutus” a Latin phrase that means “While I watch, I am safe“. It is often used as a motto, particularly in heraldry, and is associated with families like the Gordons and Cannings. The phrase emphasises vigilance and the sense of security that comes from being watchful.

This ring was made circa 1930.
