Edwardian 18ct Gold Signet Ring with Bloodstone Intaglio by Charles Green & Sons

Written by Olly Gerrish

A smart 18ct gold signet ring that was made circa 1900-1910 by the well known and respected firm Charles Green & Sons. It has been set with an oval cut bloodstone that has an intaglio of crossed swords and a Ducal coronet.  While traditionally worn by Dukes, a simplified ducal coronet is often used in heraldry and does not necessarily indicate the rank of a duke.  Swords in heraldry can symbolise a variety of concepts, including military service, justice, authority, or a specific role, such as that of a sword bearer.

Either way it is an interesting signet ring and looks good worn on the pinky finger.
