Rare Find
I have always loved Georgian paste set jewellery and these impressive earrings are an excellent example of the craft. They were made circa 1820 and are silver with gold backs and wires. They have been set with foil backed paste. The foil has been pierced at the back in order to imitate the black spot or culet that you see in old mine cut diamonds. Paste was the costume jewellery of the day and was often worn to events as it looked so like the real thing. Georgian jewels are very collectable today and these earrings are as wearable now as they were two hundred years ago!
They are presented in a fitted Morocco tooled brown leather earrings case that was made circa 1880.
