Georgian 18ct Gold, Carved Onyx Forget me Not Black Enamel Mourning Ring

539S/PR
80 Admirers Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

A wonderful 18ct gold mourning ring that was made in London in 1810. It has been set with a sardonyx carved through the white part to represent a ‘Forget me not” flower. Around it is a laurel wreath in black enamel. The shoulders have been enamelled with scrolls and lines around the shank. On the reverse is a glazed locket with a lock of hair within. The reverse has been engraved “Thomas Waite Marson ob,28 may 1830 aet (aged) 64” A gentleman of some standing. I have looked up his will which was extensive but hard to decipher!

This ring cannot be resized.
