Written by Olly Gerrish

The fede ring has a long history dating back to antiquity. The major hallmark of this type of ring is the motif of two hands traditionally one female and the other male, clasped together. Known from the original Italian “mani in fede” (hands in faith and trust), this style of ring was popular during the Renaissance and given as a token of betrothal. There was a revival in the Georgian and early Victorian period of this lovely style and this 15ct gold ring. was made circa 1830. It also features a pansy set with an old cut diamond, amethysts, chrysolite and a garnet, that further emphasises love between two people. The pansy is a pun on the French Expression “Pense a moi ” Think of me. It has its original glazed locket on the reverse that would originally have held a lock of hair.

A special ring to give to someone that you love.
