Edwardian 9ct Gold Back & Front Round Locket Engraved with Ivy Leaves

Written by Olly Gerrish

A pretty 9ct gold back and front locket that was made circa 1910. The term “Back and Front” means that the hinges, sides and inner rims are metal but the back and front parts are 9ct gold.  It has been engraved on both sides with ivy leaves. This literally means “Cling to me” in the hidden language of Victorian and Edwardian jewellery. There is also a cartouche that can be engraved if wanted with a name or initials. It opens to reveal photographs of the present occupants. These can easily be removed.
