Edwardian 18ct Gold Large Double Snake Ring set with a Sapphire & a Rose Diamond

344Y
Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

An impressive 18ct gold double snake ring that was assayed in Chester in 1901. Each snake has been set with a gemstone. One has a pear shaped sapphire in it’s head the other a pear shaped rose diamond.  Both snakes have small rose diamond eyes. It was made when the fashion for entwined snakes was at it’s height as entwined snakes mean “Eternal love” so they were given as wedding rings or commitment rings. Many versions were made but this snake ring is lovely as the snakes have friendly expressions and really look like they love each other. Some snake rings that we see are really mean looking!

It is a large size but can easily be sized down if wanted.

This could be the ideal ring for the person of your dreams.

Ollys Pick

This is a great example of a snake ring.
