Early 20th Century Natural Unheated Sri Lankan Sapphire & Diamond Cluster Ring

Written by Olly Gerrish

This is a beautiful 18ct gold ring that was made circa 1910-1920. It has been claw set with a natural unheated Sri Lankan (Ceylon) sapphire that has a known weight of 5.63 carats. It is a stunning cornflower velvety blue colour. Around it are twelve claw set  old mine cut diamonds. They are well matched stones and each one has its own character when viewed through a loupe because they have all been hand cut unlike modern brilliant cut diamonds.

It would make a perfect engagement ring.

The ring is accompanied with a gemmological certificate that states the weight of the sapphire and that there is no evidence of heat or clarity enhancement.
