This is a smart 9ct yellow gold pendant on a 9ct gold trace link chain that was made in the 1920s when this style was popular. It is a simple and striking design and a timeless look. It has been claw set with quite a large oval shaped aquamarine that has an approximate weight of 3.70 carats. At the top is another smaller claw set oval aquamarine. Both aquamarines have good pale blue saturation and are well matched. This beautiful stone is said by ancient lore to be the treasure of the mermaids. The name Aquamarine is derived from the Latin words “aqua”, meaning “water,” and “marina”, meaning “of the sea.”
