This pretty heart pendant was made circa 1880. It is studded with turquoise. The use of turquoise in antique jewellery was quite common as it represented “Forget me not” after the forget me not flower, and was therefore given as a token of love. The reverse has a glazed locket which may have contained hair or a photograph. It is 9ct gold and the turquoise has been set in silver.
