Victorian 9ct Gold Garnet and Natural Split Pearl Drop Pendant

This fiery little early Victorian pendant, with its articulated drops, comes to life when it is worn. Each of the table cut red garnets have been foiled-backed, a trend that was slowly waning in the late 1830s. However, the foiling creates a uniformity in colour and saturation, which is further brought out by the warm tones of the yellow gold setting. The connections are set with split-pearls that, although small, add to the character of the piece.
