Victorian 18ct Gold Three Stone Cabochon Colour Change Garnet Ring with Engraved Detail

382U
60 Admirers
Written by Olly Gerrish

An unusual heavy gauge 18ct Gold ring that has been claw set with three cabochon cut almandine garnets . The stones are amazing as they appear to change colour from red to a rich purple when viewed in different light. The sides have been engraved with stylised Maltese crosses and holly leaves. The ring was made circa 1860-1880 in the Holbeinesque period when garnets were a popular choice in jewels.
