Victorian 18ct Gold Marquise Ring set with Emeralds & Diamonds

181Z
140 Admirers
Written by Olly Gerrish

A lovely 18ct gold marquise ring that was made circa 1880-1900. It has been claw set with three rectangular cut emeralds surrounded by graduated claw set old mine cut diamonds. Marquise rings date back to an 18th century French Royal Commission by King Louis XV for a diamond shaped ring to resemble the lips of his mistress, the Marquise de Pompadour. This style of ring is also called a navette (little boat)

It sits low on the finger and is a flattering look when worn.
