Victorian 18ct Gold Heart Shaped Onyx, Blacke Enamel & Natural Split Pearl Pendant in Original Case

A rare example of a large 18ct gold heart shaped pendant in the original tooled deep Burgundy Moroccan leather case. It was retailed by Ortner & Houle Engravers & Draughtsmen 3 St James St SW. It is in excellent condition and was made circa 1860-1880. The heart has been set with banded sardonyx with a central starburst of natural split pearls. Around it is black enamel interspersed with eight natural split pearls. The bale has also been enamelled in black. on the reverse is a heart shaped glazed locket section containing plaited hair. The hair can be removed if wanted.
