Victorian 15ct Gold, Natural Split Pearls & Citrine Brooch / Pendant in Original Case

427S
Written by Olly Gerrish

A beautifully presented 15ct gold pendant in the original case that was made circa 1860-1880. It is composed of a large oval cut citrine that is surrounded by natural split pearls. The bale has also been set with natural split pearls. Printed in gold on the silk inside the case is “C. Packer & Co. Goldsmiths Jewellers, 75 & 78 Regent St. London. W” Charles Packer was first in a partnership with William Brady but their partnership was dissolved in 1839 and he carried on as a jeweller, pearl bead and coral dealer at the same address at 78 Regent Street, London W. until 1880. From 1880 until 1917 the business traded as Charles Packer & Co and then as Charles Packer & Co Ltd until around 1932. The jewellery they sold was of high quality as in this example. It can either be worn as a pendant or a brooch. The brooch fitting unscrews if you wish to wear it as a pendant.
