Victorian 15ct Gold & Black Enamel Ring with Onyx Flower Surrounded by Natural Split Pearls

515Z
60 Admirers
Written by Olly Gerrish

A pretty ring that was assayed in Birmingham in 1875. It has been set with a banded onyx that has been carved to form a Forget me not flower.  This was a common symbol in Victorian times and was a reminder to not forget a loved one that had passed. The black enamel further underlines the mourning period and the pearls are for tears.

Nowadays this style of ring is worn because of how it looks.
