Novelty brooches were very popular in the earl 1900s and this one is a good example.  It is a realistically modelled cat set with graduated rose diamonds. He is in a crouching position, ready to pounce on the ball which, in this instance, is a natural pearl. His eyes are tiny cabochon rubies. For cat lovers this brooch is a perfect choice.
