Edwardian 18ct Gold Snake Ring set with a Ruby

746S

Written by Olly Gerrish

A smart and finely modelled 18ct gold snake ring that was made in Birmingham in 1901. It has been set with a ruby in his head with two small rubies for his eyes. Snake rings were very popular in the Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian periods as they represented “Eternal love and wisdom”. Some examples can look quite unfriendly but this snake is a happy snake!
