Book Your Virtual ConsultationThis is a bright and very pretty 18ct gold ring that was made circa 1900-1910. It is marquise shaped and has been claw set with approximately just under one and a half carats of evenly matched bright white old mine cut diamonds. Its shape meets in pointed ends, resembling the hull of a ship. This cut is also known as the Navette cut (meaning “little boat” in French). This design became particularly popular in the late 1800s and early 1900s and variations have been designed ever since. Perhaps it came about as jewellers had not yet mastered the marquise cut which we see more commonly in later jewellery.
This style of ring is very flattering on the finger and can either be worn as a dress ring or an unusual engagement ring
